Richardson has grown dramatically from a village of 600 in 1930 to a thriving, dynamic, master-planned community of more than 90,000 today. Because more than half of the residents have moved to Richardson from another part of the country, the city has an air of cosmopolitan sophistication not often found in a community its size. Richardson is the location for a growing number of companies. It has been dubbed as the "Telecom Corridor of the Southwest" and once was recognized as a suburban boomtown of the 1990's by the Wall Street Journal.
